Jeannie was such a fine lady and a friend to all. She adored floral art and loved sharing her knowledge with others! She was our President for a time, and was very determined to travel to Melbourne from Swan Hill year in and year out, to attend so many floral art functions! We will miss her so much! Jeannie you were our rock and link through all the years to our Aussie family. Initially through Mum (Jan Finlayson your bridesmaid) but since her death you transferred your love, kindness and family news to the next couple of generations. Its been a privilege to get to know you better in person over the last few years. I will miss our midnight chats about the cricket and the state of the world. You will be remembered in the flower arrangements and sourdough bread i make each week with your starter. Rest in peace.

In memory of the most gorgeous Aunt, We are all so saddened to hear of Jeannie’s passing. Jeannie was truly special—her zest for life, her kindness, and the way she shared her wisdom so generously will always stay with us. She gave her love freely and touched many lives. Her absence leaves a deep space in our hearts. We feel so lucky to have known and loved her, and to have learned so much from her. Jeannie, your floral art was inspirational and your independence in later life in particular, was remarkable. With especially fond memories of evenings spent on the farm next to the cricket bat trees north of Swan Hill with aunts and uncles and all the cousins, and of course Grandma Ivy. Also. Heartfelt thanks for your kindness and sincere condolences to our branch of the family on the loss of Danny, a cherished nephew, in July 2024. I always enjoyed my conversations with Jeannie when visiting Terry and Heather. She always had such a thoughtful and considerate way of engaging with people at any age. She was such a talented and accomplished person. Sending our condolences to her family and friends.

What a force of spirit, life, and creativity you were Jeannie. All of us were lucky to have moments with you during our lifetimes. Whether at Nel’s running races, grandchildren’s weddings, anecdotes of your floristry art, the best of moments on the verandah at Piangle with you and Don at dusk. You were a legend amongst the various Coates family members despite the tyranny of distance. A huge inspiration to your own children. We were lucky to have met you. Thankyou for those moments. You were a Queen matriarch adored and admired by your family and will be undoubtedly missed by all from all corners of the earth. It is your time to rest. RIP Jeannie. Jeannie was a beautiful, determined, creative lady and a wonderful ‘treasure’ of Swan Hill. I was delighted when she agreed to make my wedding bouquet only 8 years ago, at the age of 90. We, the staff at the Swan Hill Library, will remember her fondly. She will be missed by many. Sincere condolences to her devoted family and friends.
