What a shock to read of Ricky's death. I remember him as a bright light that never went dim - full of energy and talent and smiles. My football days were spent wishing I could be half as good as him, and he was a good cricketer too. Frankly, I think Ricky could have been a champion at any sport. He was funny, courteous, well-respected and balanced. You couldn't help liking Ricky. He was a gem.

Taken too soon Ricky. I will always remember your infectious laugh and smile when we worked together at both at Broadmeadows and Epping. Condolences to all his family. May he RIP.

I was sad to hear of Ricky's passing. I worked with him for many years at Broadmeadows Centrelink. He always had a smile on his face and was a fun-loving larrikin. Condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Ricky Baxter. I worked with him for many years at Broadmeadows Centrelink, Ricky always had the customers best interest at heart, and would love to have a good joke with them. But the most important thing I remember about Ricky was the love and pride he had for his children. Gone too soon, Ricky may you rest in peace, my condolences to your family.

Ricky the great the man with respect who enjoyed life could nt miss a day without thinking about family footy cars and his ice Coffee to keep his hair spiky up what a great character he had. I still feel his heart as if his heart is beating with mine god love him will miss his Laugh and smile with a little bourbon or jack Daniel dearly you won’t be forgotten I will carry this journey with great memories we had to together forever like reminding me how to grip the footy and talking footy. Soar with the angels Ricky! You were a valued member of staff for many years at Broadmeadows, and worked across multiple sites with the Federal Government. I would like to pass on the best wishes of the executive management team of Services Australia to Ricky’s family and loved ones in the difficult time. I personally worked with Ricky over several periods and he was a lovely, kind, warm and funny bloke. I cherish the memories and time spent with you Ricky! Rest easy, you will be sadly missed!

In the short time I knew Ricky Baxter I was impressed with his positive attitude as an Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer. ACLOs perform a vital role for Victoria Police and Ricky was among the best. We were born in the same year but never played footy together or against each other as I played mostly in the Northern Territory with and against several legends of the game. It would have been nice to have added one more to that list. Will not be forgotten and a member of the police family always.

Dear Nola, Cassandra, Demity, Jackson, Bianca, Adam, Ian and all the grand kids please accept my condolences on Ricky’s passing. I know you would all be aware of how much he loved you all and was so very proud of his children. After spending time with you over the weekends he would always be in at work on Mondays showing me photos and telling me about the time you spent together. Ricky was such a wonderful human being who loved to tell you a story, or two, or three. He loved to laugh, never took anything too seriously and had terrible taste in music, just check out ‘Tequila Shiela’ and you will see what I mean. By all accounts he was the greatest footballer to put on a pair of boots, at least that’s what he told me anyway, and was always recounting stories of his football years and the great times he had. When I mentioned that Ricky had started work at Swan Hill Police Station my stepfather mentioned that he worked for SHRCC with a young man named Ricky Baxter and that he was always eating cream cakes. I told him that it must be the same guy as Ricky loved cakes, burgers, potato cakes, iced coffee, coloured soft drinks and wing dings, so much so that we often referred to him as ‘Sticky Ricky the Wing Ding King’. If anything came up at work and he missed his Friday Wing Dings from the Kerang take away joint, he was not happy! I loved Ricky as a brother and will miss him dearly. If there is an afterlife, I’m sure he’s up there having a laugh and yarn with Bruce, other family members and the great friends he made who have passed during his joyous life 

RIP Ricky. Sad news. Fond memories and funny ones of our primary school days at Murraydale with the Baxters and Charles kids. A kind man with a heart of gold and great love and pride in his kids and extended family. Deepest sympathy to all. Take it easy old mate x

Vale Rick. Shocked and saddened to hear this news. Was great to have Rick as a mate and in your corner in the early years of Tech School and at Tyntynder FC. Loved his sport and was bloody good at it. A credit to himself and those he represented. Condolences to family and friends.

I was so shocked when I heard of your passing. I was only speak about you couple of weeks ago. It only seem not long ago when you were playing football for Moulamein Sending my condolences to Ricky's family and friends, my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. Our sincerest condolences to Ricky's family. Ricky loved working with the children at Swan Hill North Primary School and especially supporting the work of our Hands on Learning Program. The students will miss his fun loving nature and cheeky smile.

My condolences to the family, Ricky was my first 18s coach and his help and confidence in me is what led me to becoming the player i was. Always pushing me harder wanting me to always do my best. Even when he moved on to another club he still wanted me to bring my best against him. No more hiding his ice coffees. Thanks Ricky, you were a beloved coach.

Ricky , you were an amazing man You did more for me than I could have ever thanked you for. Not only in my football career but in my life away from football I’m gonna miss that laugh of yours and the greeting of JIMBOB with the head nod to go with it every time we spoke Or the countless story’s you would tell me that eventually lead back to you being able to tell how great you were at football (especially since you played barefoot as you’d tell me ) Rest easy Rick gonna miss you mate ♥️

Great man and Great coach. I had the pleasure of meeting Rick as a player when he took over the coaching at Northern Saints Football Club. He taught us a lot we had the privilege of playing a few games under him before covid hit and he brought the best out of everyone and made people enjoy footy. His Humour and witty comments will never be forgotten. We still talk about a preseason game and one of the comments he made still gets replayed among players til today. RIP Ricky

He was a great man, with a big heart and love for the game. His humour and quick wit never went astray.
