So sad and shocked to hear of Shane's passing. With everything that life threw at Shane he still potted around tending to his chooks, garden and setting up his prized bottle collection. How unjust that Shane didn't get to enjoy the long a waited house renovations. My condolences to Mandy, Michelle and their families. Jocelyn Bail

What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything? Vincent van Gogh On behalf of Cliff and I, we offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Donnan family for the sad passing of Shane Donnan. We have had the honour and the privilege of knowing Shane for a long time. We met through Shane’s love of pigeon racing and his interest in the Mallee Combine Pigeon Racing Club. With a few different careers and a love for the countryside, Shane enjoyed the companionship of fellow pigeon flyers and a passion for the homing pigeon. It must be said that Shane was a passionate flyer, very competitive, and always striving to train his birds well and achieve good results. This made him a most interesting club member, always ensuring that there was a lot of discussion about the pigeon raising program, the number of races, and the results of each event. In recent times, Shane has had to deal with numerous personal health issues, which he has handled in his characteristic manner. His input into the club and fellow pigeon races, such as those with Cliff and I, will be sadly missed for the humour he brought and the level of intensity he brought to the sport. Shane was not afraid to say it as it was, which, in its way, was invigorating and refreshing for the discussion that followed. It takes rain and sunshine to make a rainbow, unknown author Shane, over the years, would have seen many a rainy day when things were not so joyful and full of challenges. Whenever the sunshine arrived, he would make the most of that and set out to achieve whatever opportunities became available to him. There were many times when he created rainbows, which would no doubt be shared by his family and the many colleagues he associated with over time. Cliff and I will remember many of those moments, which could bring some very in-depth discussions, as well as a significant amount of humour. It's a shame that he was not afraid to give his opinion, but also accepted return views and opinions as well. We often judge people’s lives in so many ways, by the level of education that one might have, by the status of the job or the wealth that they might have created and many other judgements which we apply. None of these are that important when you consider the people you meet along life’s journey are the ones that enrich your own personal experiences in life. Shane was such a person that, whether you met him only casually or knew him for an extended period, you would leave the meeting with him so much richer for the experience in so many ways. He would have given people a lot of enjoyment with such meetings. We believe that this verse, in many ways, says it all about Shane’s life journey. I expect to pass through this world but once Any good thing that I can do Or any kindness that I can show Let me do it now Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again. Our thoughts will be with the Donovan family as they say farewell to Shane’s passing. There will be many memories to cherish and many stories to tell of Shane’s most interesting life journey. May Shane’s last flight be as enjoyable as it was for the many pigeons that he bred and raced over time. Lives race well-run A life’s work well done Life’s victory one Now come with the rest. EH Parker. Always remembered, many memories to cherish and never forgotten. Cliff Dwyer and Max Fehring
