Zowie-Jean, you were such an important part of my life, and it is almost impossible to find the words to say goodbye. I will miss your humour, your determination, your stories and your phone calls — especially hearing, “Thérèse, you need to advocate for me.” I hope you always knew that I heard you, believed in you, and was enormously proud to stand beside you and fight for you. Your life was far too short, but it mattered. You mattered. You were deeply loved and have left a place in my heart that nobody else will ever fill. Rest peacefully, Love you always Bub Thérèse ❤️

Zowie, my best dearest friend I love you more than life could ever describe. Thank you for teaching me that nothing is ever that serious, and that life is worth living You mean so much to me, more than my heart and soul

Our Dearest Big Bird I am still struggling to come to terms with your passing. It all feels so unreal, and my heart still cannot believe that you are no longer here. Only a couple of days before you grew your wings, we were on the phone planning a catch-up, never imagining that it would be our last conversation. Like any friendship, we had our ups and downs, but the happy moments, laughter and memories we shared will always outweigh everything else. You taught us so much, shared your knowledge and brought your own cheeky personality into every moment. I will forever cherish the conversations, laughs and memories we created together. I don’t have my Google search buddy anymore, and I know it will never be the same. The smallest things I see or experience throughout the day remind me of you, and I find myself wishing I could call you and share them with you. I now do it to my colleagues who was once a part of your life and boy do we have a good laugh. No amount of words could ever truly describe the bond we shared or the memories we created. At only 18 years old, you had so much life ahead of you, and it is heartbreaking knowing that your journey was cut far too short. You mattered so much Z especially to your Aunty Therese. You will forever be loved, remembered and deeply missed, bub. Your cheeky smile, your beautiful spirit and the memories you left behind will stay with us always. Melbourne will never be the same without you.

Such a privilege to have known and worked with you Zowie-Jean! May you now rest peacefully. You reminded of the importance of meeting a person were they are, providing safe space and sitting in the unknown with them, you are a very special soul and I am so grateful are paths crossed. To your family and community I send love and strength.

I didn’t get to spend as much time with Zowie as I would have liked, but she was someone who left an impact on our family and will be remembered. I know she held a particularly important place in Mum’s heart. Mum cared deeply for Zowie and advocated for her over the years, always wanting the very best for her. Today, I’m thinking of Zowie with respect and compassion, and remembering the person behind everything life brought her way. Sending all my love and deepest condolences to everyone who loved her and is feeling her loss. May she rest peacefully.

Thankyou Zowie Jean for all the good memories, I particularly loved our time together in Wagga Wagga catching over a lazy luncheons and then either watching a movie together at my home and playing Scrabble!! I still think a few of your words were very naughty but we both had to laugh those words off and just enjoy the game…..Fly high Zowie and rest easy with your dad, one day we will meet again ! P.S. Zowie I still have your photo on my family cupboard and the little blue turtle you gifted me when you were about 8 years old!! Rest Easy cheers Kay from Wagga

Zowie, SO very sad to hear you have left us way before you should have. The world is less because you have left it and taken your bright, intelligent and inquisitive nature with it. There is so much you brought to us all. I am glad you are now safe with your ancestors in the dreaming and hope and pray the next stage of the journey brings you peace. Deb

Dear Zowie I am so delighted that we have spent time together! Spending time at Wagga Beach, having fun at Junee, visiting different antique stores, spending time at the Melbourne show, doing water aerobics, and not to mention taking me to Monte Cristo Homestead, which blew my mind. Your cheeky smile will never be forgotten! May you rest in peace. Love Flo

Zowie, you always managed to bring a smile and laugh to those around you, even during the hard times. Your brutual honesty, your love of all things a bit different to the norm, the deep thought and care you showed to myself and those around you was one of the highlights of knowing you. It breaks my heart that the world has lost you at 18 It gives me peace you are now with your Dad and your body will lay to rest alongside him too. Lots of love Liz and Lucy

Oh Zowie - you have left us way too soon. You had so much spunk, fighting for what was right while getting up to mischief, living life hard and fast. It was a privilege to have known you. It’s comforting to know you are at peace and with your Dad. My love and thoughts are with your beloved Aunty Therese. Your rock who you always turned to when you needed help, love and support. Much love to you Zow, you were absolutely one of a kind. Jacqui
